  • INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRACKER

    Use the symptom tracker to see the current and predicted levels of cold and flu-like illnesses in your selected area.

  • WHAT IS THE DATA SOURCE?

    The tool uses Cold & Flu Activity Notification (FAN)* data, to show cold and flu incidence levels for the UK, providing a scale from Very Low to Very High.

    It’s a weekly index (refreshed every Sunday) and provides the actual view for the current week and +4 weeks forecast based on historical data.

    *FAN data provides the incidence of cold and flu symptoms i.e. generic upper respiratory infection covering influenza-like illness, fever, cough, sore throat.

  • WHAT IS THE CH-ILI INDEX SCALE?

    The prediction is provided for the current week and up to 4 weeks in the future, using a five-stage scale starting with “very low” index up to “very high” index. This is according to the number of influenza-like cases in the selected area.

  • DOES THIS TRACKER IDENTIFY COVID LEVELS?

    This tracker is based on the scale and prescriptions of cold and flu remedies as well as reports of symptoms from IQVIA FAN data. It does not differentiate between COVID and other flu-like illnesses.
